The Department of Posts, on January 13, 2025, issued a notification regarding the Transition of PLI/RPLI Governance to Post Office Regulations, 2024.
The governance of Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI), previously under the "Post Office Life Insurance Rules, 2011," will now fall under the "Post Office Regulations, 2024" as notified in Gazette No. S.O. 5440(E) dated December 16, 2024. This change is by the Post Office Act, 2023, and Post Office Rules, 2024. Until new administrative instructions are issued, the existing rules, amendments, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will remain effective as interim administrative guidelines.
