Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAH&D) on January 17, 2025, amended an older notification No. S.O. 3926(E), dated September 22, 2021, related to veterinary health certificate requirements for dog and cat food products.

The following has been stated: -

•In the notification, in Form-I, in paragraph II relating to sanitary information, after sub-paragraph (viii), the following sub-paragraph shall be inserted, namely:– 

(ix) In case dog and cat food products also contain probiotics, the following shall be additionally certified.

(a)The dog and cat food products contain active probiotics approved by the importing country, as in the document below.

(b)The probiotics are tested and are free from other facultative aerobic micro-organisms (including pathogenic) and other contaminants.

(c)The probiotics are not intended for drug or medicinal use.
