The Government of Jharkhand on January 21, 2025, issued the Guruji Student Credit Card Scheme.
The following has been stated: -
•The Government of Jharkhand's Guruji Student Credit Card Scheme provides financial support for higher education to meritorious students, offering loans up to Rs 15 lakhs at 4% interest.
•The Department of Higher and Technical Education administers the scheme with recurring expenditures from the state's fund. As per the Aadhaar Act, beneficiaries must provide Aadhaar or undergo Aadhaar authentication to access benefits.
•The scheme aims to streamline service delivery and ensure direct entitlements to beneficiaries.
•It notifies that individuals applying for the Guruji Student Credit Card Scheme must provide Aadhaar proof or undergo Aadhaar authentication. Those without Aadhaar must apply for enrolment. The Department will facilitate Aadhaar enrolment for beneficiaries in remote areas. If Aadhaar authentication fails, alternative methods like iris scans, face recognition, or OTP will be used.
•Beneficiaries can also use Aadhaar letters with QR codes for verification.
•The notification takes effect from January 21, 2025.
