The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoAFW) on January 2025, issued the Model Guidelines for Quality Control Laboratory at Mandis under e-NAM.
The following has been stated namely: -
• e-NAM is a digital platform linking agricultural markets (mandis) across India to enable electronic trading, with quality testing systems ensuring fair pricing. The Directorate of Marketing and Inspection supports quality assurance for commodities traded under e-NAM.
• The purpose to set up Quality testing laboratories is to strengthen the quality assaying system and develop trade reliable grades and standards which will promote inter-mandi and interstate e-trade.
• These guidelines have been prepared to frame required standards and specifications for setting up quality control laboratories with requisite equipment in mandi, wherein major components are mentioned below: -
o Commodities to be analysed
o Building facilities and physical infrastructure
o Safety and Hygiene
o Selection and purchase of equipment/chemic
