The Government of Nagaland on December 13, 2024, issued the Guidelines for establishment of Private Universities in the State of Nagaland.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Procedures for Submission of Application and Proposal to be followed by the Sponsoring Body:
A Sponsoring Body desirous of setting up of a Private University, shall submit an application along with detailed proposal to the Nodal Department along with a demand draft of ₹2,00,000/- (Rupees two lakhs) non-refundable, only in favour of Director, Higher Education. On receipt of application, the same will be forwarded to the concerned Departments for review of DPR/clearance and necessary formalities.
• The contents to be included in the proposal is mentioned.
• After receiving satisfactory reports from the Committee constituted by the State Government, the State Government (Department of Higher & Technical Education) will table a separate bill/Ordinance for specific Private University before the State Legislature for its approval. The State Government will then pass a bill for the establishment and incorporation of the particular Private University, thereby enabling the Government to issue a Gazette Notification.
