The Government of Meghalaya on January 16, 2025, issued the Meghalaya Factories (Amendment) Rules, 2024 to further amend the Meghalaya Factories Rules, 1980.
The following amendments have been stated:
• Rule 6, sub-rule 2 of the Meghalaya Factories Rules, 1980 has been substituted as follows:
(2) "Every license granted or renewed under this chapter shall remain valid or be in force for a minimum period of one year to a maximum period of 10 years as applicable. The license so granted or renewed shall remain valid up to the end of the tenure period. Notwithstanding the above, the Chief Inspector of Boilers & Factories may issue/grant factory license for more than 10 years on a case-to-case basis".
It shall extend to the whole State of Meghalaya.
It shall come into force from January 16, 2025.
