The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on January 23, 2025, issued the Draft E-Commerce- Principles and Guidelines for Self-Governance.
The following has been stated: -
•The guidelines outline principles for self-governance in e-commerce, focusing on consumer and stakeholder interests.
•It divides transaction principles into three phases: Pre-Transaction, Contract Formation, and Post-Transaction. Pre-transaction principles emphasize seller registration, including identity, legal information, and KYC procedures.
•Listings must include detailed product information, such as title, seller details, and visuals, to help consumers assess the product.
The Last date for submitting any comments is February 20, 2025.
