The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) on January 01, 2025, issued a notification regarding the implementation of Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) Facilities for Generators and Associated Measures.
The following has been stated: -
•KPTCL is directed to install Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) facilities for Independent Power Producers (IPPs) where not yet available and recover the costs from the generators.
•KPTCL will maintain the AMR systems and ensure data transfer to the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC).
•Generators must accept energy bills based on AMR data, and KPTCL will conduct half-yearly spot inspections for billing accuracy. Full implementation must be completed within two months, with weekly progress reports submitted to the Commission.
•This order aims to improve energy accounting and billing efficiency.
