EHS ComplianceThe Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) on January 21, 2025, issued a notification regarding giving consent to all Non-Bedded Health Care Units (HCU) and Healthcare Units having less than 30 beds generating biological medical waste

The following has been stated: -

•Healthcare units with less than 30 beds are required to obtain consent under the Water Act-1974, Air Act-1981, and Biological Medical Waste Management Rules-2016 from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB). 

•For ease of business, consent and authorization applications from such units will be processed within 15 days without on-site inspection, based on merit. After 90 days, on-site inspections will be conducted to ensure compliance. 

•A qualified person must be appointed by these units to ensure adherence to the rules. The process aims to streamline authorization for small healthcare units in the state.
