The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on January 24, 2025, issued the Draft Central Motor Vehicles (….. Amendment) Rules, 2024 to further amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In rule 51A after sub-rule (ii), the following sub-rule shall be inserted, namely:
(iii). up to fifty per cent, in case of all transport and non-transport vehicles which are manufactured as per Mass Emission Standards Bharat Stage I (BS-I) norms and earlier Mass Emission Standard norms and all medium & heavy goods motor vehicles and all medium & heavy passenger motor vehicles which are manufactured as per Mass Emission Standards Bharat Stage II (BSII) norms.
All persons likely to be affected thereby; and notice is hereby given that the said draft rules shall be taken into consideration after the expiry of 30 days from the date on which the copies of this notification, as published in the Official Gazette, are made available to the public;
