The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on January 24, 2025, launched a new Sub-Category level Nifty AIF Benchmark.
NSE Indices Limited has published its semi-annual Nifty AIF Benchmark Reports for the period ending March 31, 2024, highlighting the performance of category and sub-category benchmarks. A new sub-category benchmark, “Long Only – Debt Oriented Fund,” has been introduced under Category III, focusing on schemes with high debt exposure. With this addition, NSE Indices now offers sixteen sub-category level benchmarks across three main AIF categories: Category I, Category II, and Category III.

Category II
• Unlisted Equity Fund
• Listed + Unlisted Equity Fund
• Real Estate (Equity Oriented) Fund
• Real Estate (Non – Equity Oriented and Others) Fund
• Real Estate (Non – Equity Oriented and Others) – Residential Only
• Debt Fund
• Distressed Asset Fund
Category III
• Long Only – Debt Oriented Fund
• Long Only – Equity Oriented Fund
• Long Short Equity Fund
• Multi Asset Fund
• Hybrid Fund
The Nifty AIF Benchmarks, created in line with SEBI Guidelines, are based on performance data from over 700 AIF schemes as of March 31, 2024. These benchmarks cover three AIF categories (I, II, and III) and are published semi-annually, reflecting performance for the periods ending March and September. The Nifty AIF Benchmark Report is aimed at wealth managers, family offices, asset managers, corporate treasuries, and other investors.
