Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Goods and Sales Taxes Network, (GSTN) on January 24, 2025, issued a notification regarding the Advisory on Business Continuity for e-Invoice and e-Waybill Systems.

To ensure seamless operations and business continuity, taxpayers are advised to integrate alternate mechanisms for the e-Invoice and e-Waybill systems. Six operational Invoice Registration Portals (IRPs), including NIC-IRP 1 & 2, Cygnet, Clear, EY, and IRIS, offer redundancy for e-Invoice reporting, while two e-Waybill portals (eWaybill1 and eWaybill2) ensure uninterrupted services. NIC-IRP 1 & 2 are interoperable, allowing smooth switching during disruptions, and a single authentication token is valid across all NIC platforms. Taxpayers can test these features in the NIC sandbox environment.

To maintain continuity, taxpayers should ensure cross-portal API interoperability, coordinate with service providers, and explore additional IRPs. APIs supporting IRN retrieval, cancellations, and e-Waybill generation allow seamless cross-platform functionality. This advisory emphasizes readiness for potential service disruptions and encourages engagement with system integrators, IRPs, ERPs, GSPs, or ASPs to enable redundancy. For further assistance, contact the GST helpdesk or respective IRPs.
