The Government on Chhattisgarh on January 23, 2025, issued the Chhattisgarh Panchayat Raj (Sanshodhan) Second Adhyadesh, 2025, to further amend the Chhattisgarh Panchayat Raj Adhiniyam, 1993.
The following has been amended namely: -
• Section 2 which states “Definitions” has the following proviso: -
“Provided that population of Other Backward Class means, such figures of population, which have been determined in the prescribed manner.”
• Section 13 which states “Constitution of Gram Panchayat” for clause sub-section (4) (ii) the following has been substituted namely: -
“In any Gram Panchayat where less than Fifty percent seats have been reserved for Scheduled Castes and/or Scheduled Tribes, then remained seats as nearly as possible shall be reserved for Other Backward Classes proportionate to their population but Subject to the Maximum limit of Fifty percent of the total seats and such seats shall be allotted by rotation to different wards in that Gram Panchayat by the Collector, in the prescribed manner”
• Section 129-E sub-section (3) has been omitted.
