The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) on January 28, 2025, issued an advisory for Biometric-Based Aadhaar Authentication and Document Verification for GST Registration Applicants of Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that Rule 8 of CGST Rules mandates biometric Aadhaar authentication, photo capture, and document verification for applicants. It has been rolled out in Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh from January 28, 2025.
• It states that applicants under GST REG-01 receive a link for OTP-based Aadhaar authentication or an appointment for biometric verification and document validation at a GST Suvidha Kendra.
• It further states that applicants shall complete biometric Aadhaar authentication and document verification at a GST Suvidha Kendra within the specified period to generate their ARN.
