The Department of Panchayati Raj, Himachal Pradesh on January 23, 2025, issued the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj (General) Amendment Rules, 2024, to further amend the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj (General) Rules, 1997.
The following has been stated namely: -
• They shall come into force from January 28, 2025, but the provision of Rule 3 will come into force from such date as may be notified by the State Government.
• Rule 2(1) (bb) which defines "Bonafide Resident" the following shall be substituted, namely:- "Bonafide resident shall mean a person who has been issued a Bonafide Himachali Certificate by a Competent Revenue Officer".
• In rule 10 which states "Register of proceedings" the following sub-rule (1- A) shall be added, namely: "The proceedings of the meeting may also be recorded online in the format and software, as may be made available by the Panchayati Raj Department".
