The Government of Kerala on January 28, 2025, issued a notification regarding the extension of the Ban on Pig Movement in Kerala Due to African Swine Fever.
The following has been stated: -
•The Kerala government has extended the ban on the movement of pigs, pig meat, products, and manure in and out of the state for 60 days, from January 17, 2025, to March 16, 2025. The ban aims to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) based on confirmatory lab reports.
•Additionally, pig rearing within a 2-km radius of government/public sector pig breeding farms is prohibited.
•This action follows the implementation of bio-security measures to preserve disease-free pig stock in the state.
