The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (MoCAF&PD) on January 31, 2025, issued a notification regarding the summary of the Sugar Stock and Quota Order for February 2025.
The following has been stated: -
•The Directorate of Sugar has directed sugar producers to hold white/refined sugar stock until February 28, 2025, with deductions for any violations of stockholding limits in November 2024.
•Sugar mills must integrate their ERP systems with the NSWS portal and submit monthly reports by February 20, 2025. Group sugar mills can maintain stock either unit-wise or collectively.
•Compliance with mandatory jute packaging is required, and violations will result in penalties under the Essential Commodities Act.
