EHS ComplianceThe Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on February 03, 2025, issued a notification regarding changes in the Environmental Clearances Policy.

The Ministry issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on November 14, 2024, later modified on January 14, 2025, for implementing certain notifications. The SOP stipulates that projects requiring prior Environmental Clearance (EC) are exempt from obtaining Consent to Establish (CTE), provided they obtain the necessary EC. Environmental safeguards will be included in the EC conditions. The process now integrates the procedures for environmental clearance and consent, streamlining approvals and promoting Ease of Doing Business while ensuring environmental protections. State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) will continue to review the project's feasibility and enforce environmental safeguards during the EC process and through the "Consent to Operate" mechanism.
