The Government of Maharashtra on February 05, 2025, Implementation of Telecommunications Act, 2023 and Right of Way (RoW) Rules, 2024 in Maharashtra.
The Telecommunications Act, 2023, enacted by the Parliament of India, came into force on June 26, 2024. Following this, the Right of Way (RoW) Rules, 2024 were notified on September 17, 2024, and officially implemented across the country from January 1, 2025. These new rules aim to facilitate the rapid deployment of telecom infrastructure, enhancing connectivity and economic growth.
In Maharashtra, the state government has taken immediate steps to implement these regulations. The Maharashtra Telecommunication Infrastructure Guidelines for Urban Bodies, 2022, issued under Government Decision No. Narrow-2021/P.No. 242/Navi-20, dated December 19, 2022, have been authorized for implementation. Additionally, the Central Government’s Telecommunications Act, 2023, and the Telecommunications (Right of Way) Rules, 2024, have been enforced in all Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, and Nagar Panchayats across the state.
