The Government of Gujarat on January 21, 2025, issued a notification regarding the holiday due to election of Municipalities.
The State Election Commission, Gandhinagar, has scheduled General, Mid-Session, and Sub-Elections for Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, District Panchayats, and Taluka Panchayats in Gujarat on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
As per the Gujarat Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act-2019, employers must provide employees special leave of three hours for voting if their weekly holiday does not fall on the polling day. Exceptions apply if an employee's absence would cause significant disruption or loss. The provision also applies to daily and casual workers.
