The Government of Himachal Pradesh on January 31, 2025, issued the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Act, 2024, to further amend the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Act, 1994 (Act No. 4 of 1994).
The following has been stated namely: -
• In section 89, which states about the Constitution of “Zila Parishad”, in sub-section (2) after the second proviso a new proviso, shall be inserted, namely:- “Provided also that the State Government may, after having due regard to the geographical location, lack of means of transportation and communication, and for administrative convenience, notify a territorial constituency for the Backward Gram Panchayats, having a population less than twenty-five thousand.”.
