The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on January 24, 2025, issued a circular regarding restrictions on enrolments in Classes I to XII as per directions issued by the Board.
It is stated that as per clause 4.8 of the Affiliation Bye-Laws "The optimum number of students shall be 40 in each section. The availability of one square meter of Built-up Floor Area per child in the classrooms is an absolute necessity in the school. Subject to this the details of the allowed sections, as per the rules of these byelaws and availability of land and infrastructure, are given in Appendix-V."
Accordingly, all the Heads and Managers of the CBSE-affiliated schools are advised to regulate and restrict their enrolments in Classes I to XII as per directions issued by the Board. The schools are therefore advised that they may apply for an increase in sections in SARAS 6.0 to regulate their sections as per chapter 3 Appendix V of the Affiliation Bye-Laws of the Board 2018 so that they can maintain the optimum number of students to 40 in each section w.e.f. 2026-27 session.
