The Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MoC&I) on February 14, 2025, notified regarding the Index Numbers of Wholesale Prices in India for the Month of January 2025 (Base Year: 2011-12).
The following has been stated namely:-
• The annual rate of inflation based on all India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) number is 2.31% (provisional) for January 2025 (over January 2024). The positive rate of inflation in January 2025 is primarily due to an increase in prices of manufacture of food products, food articles, other manufacturing, non-food articles, and manufacture of textiles, etc
• In January 2025, the WPI saw a 2.01% decrease in Primary Articles (food articles down 3.62%, while crude petroleum & natural gas up 6.34%), a 0.47% increase in Fuel & Power (mineral oils up 0.71%, electricity up 0.20%), and a 0.14% rise in Manufactured Products (price increase in 15 out of 22 groups, including food products, machinery, and pharmaceuticals, while basic metals, apparel, and beverages declined).
