EHS ComplianceThe Government of Karnataka on February 14, 2025, issued a notification regarding accepting and processing industrial applications mandatorily only through online mode.

It is stated that an online system has been developed with necessary features for the following approvals/services in the jurisdiction of the Water Resources Department:

• Permission to draw water for industrial use from canal/ tank/reservoir/river.

• Renewal of permission to draw water for industrial use from canal/ tank/reservoir/river.

The following features have been implemented for each of the above services: 

• Standard operating procedures with timelines, Step-by-step process of approvals (NOCs/Registrations/permissions/Renewals) and document checklists are published online on the Department portal;

• Online submission of application along with necessary attachments and payment of fee without the need for physical touch point/ offline submission; Online system does not require any physical touch point between the applicant and the Department of Water Resource/Nigams.

• The online portal has facility for the applicant to track the status of the application and the applicant receives SMS/Email notification whenever there is a change in status.

• Applicants can download the digitally signed interim and/or final approval certificates/inspection reports from the portal;

• Service dashboard has been published in DPIIT, Gol depicting all data points for all applications, with additional fields required by the department (as may be required).

• The application module and dashboard has been integrated for displaying updated data on portal on real time/daily basis and user shall be able to drill down to application level details such as application number (masked), application and approval date, statutory fee paid under different heads defined by the department, average fee and others.

• The guidelines issued by the Water Resources Department vide ref (3) above should be strictly followed by the industries.
