The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on February 17, 2025, issued the 'Recommendations on the Terms and Conditions of Network Authorisations to be Granted Under the Telecommunications Act, 2023'.
The following has been stated namely: -
• These recommendations aim to foster growth and enhancing ease of doing business in the telecom sector.
• It states that the Central Government should grant network authorizations under Section 3(1)(b) of the Telecommunications Act, 2023, with detailed terms prescribed through notified rules, and seek TRAI's recommendations for any changes, except for security reasons.
• The recommendations comprise three chapters. Chapter I provides an introduction and background to the subject. Chapter II provides a brief description of the issues, a summary of stakeholders’ comments, and the Authority’s analysis and recommendations thereupon. Chapter III provides an analysis and recommendations on the financial aspects of network authorisations.
