The Labour Department, Govt. of Chhattisgarh on February 14, 2025, issued the draft amendment in the Chhattisgarh Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2021.
It states that rule 7 shall be substituted namely: -
• It states that women workers may be employed in night shifts (9:00 PM–6:00 AM) with consent and a minimum of three women per shift, along with employer-provided security, verified transport, complaint mechanisms, safe facilities, adherence to maternity and workplace harassment laws, and compliance with fire and health regulations.
• It further states that information regarding the employment of women workers in night shifts shall be given by the employer in Form-7 online on the web portal of the Labour Department before their employment.
• Any objection or suggestions regarding the said draft may be sent to the Secretary/Deputy Secretary, Department of Labour, Government of Chhattisgarh, Mahanadi Bhawan, Mantralaya, Nawa Raipur, Atal Nagar shall be considered by the Government of Chhattisgarh, on or before by March 16, 2025.
