Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) on February 17, 2025, issued a notification regarding a reduction in the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) on account of the reduction/exemption from Customs duty.

The reference is drawn to the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance Notification No. 05/2025-Customs dated February 01, 2025, reducing the custom duty on 6 life saving drugs to 5% and exempting 36 life saving drugs from Custom Duty.

In view of the above, all the manufacturers and marketing companies selling drugs/formulations mentioned in the above-referred notification are required to revise the MRP of drugs/formulations on account of reduction/ exemption of Custom Duty. Information about the revision is required to be submitted through Form II/ Form V and the manufacturers shall issue a price list or supplementary price list to the dealers, State Drugs Controllers and the Government indicating changes.
