Labour ComplianceThe Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), on February 11, 2025, issued a notification regarding the Approval for bearing 100% expenditure up to the ceiling limit by ESIC on the cost of repair/replacement of Cochlear implants to ESI beneficiaries ona  cashless basis.

In continuation of circular no. U16/12/1/2020/Agenda/ReportingItem/Med-III dated 11.07.2022, the ESI Corporation (ESIC) reiterates its adoption of CGHS guidelines (No. 6-469/2003-CGHS/R&H dated 12.06.2009) for Cochlear Implant for its beneficiaries.

Given the financial constraints of ESIC beneficiaries, the cost ofa  cochlear implant, upgradation, or replacement of wearable components (excluding cords and batteries) shall be fully borne by ESIC on a cashless basis, up to a ceiling of ₹5,35,000, subject to approval by two ENT surgeons from a government hospital and compliance with CGHS guidelines.

Regional Directors/Medical Superintendents of ESIC Hospitals are authorized to sanction 100% cashless coverage for eligible cases. A monthly report on approved cases must be submitted to the Headquarters by the 7th of every month.
