The Labour Department, Sikkim on February 10, 2025, issued a notification regarding the Importance of the Registration of Workers in Sikkim.
The Labour Department hosted a press briefing at Shram Bhawan, Sokaythang, to raise awareness about worker registration under the Sikkim Labour (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2021. Mr. Regul K, Secretary of the Labour Department, explained the registration process and key provisions of the Act, emphasizing its importance for both organised and unorganised sector workers.
Mr. Regul K, Secretary of the Labour Department, emphasized that only registered workers are allowed to work in Sikkim and discussed penalties for non-compliance. He reassured that labour registration is an ongoing process and can be done year-round at any designated labour office. He urged both workers and employers to complete registration promptly to avoid legal consequences.
