Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) on February 21, 2025, issued the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) (Sixth Amendment) Order, 2025, to further amend the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003.

This shall come into force on February 24, 2025.

It states that Schedule VI is amended to include “Moldova” as a country of origin for Malus domestica (Apple), requiring a Phytosanitary Certificate stating freedom from specified pests and diseases (Apple blossom weevil, Codling moth, European apple sawfly, Gypsy moth, Comstock mealybug, Fire blight, Grey mould-rot, and Leaf spot of pear) and pre-shipment cold treatment at 0°C for 13 days, 0.55°C for 14 days, or 1.1°C for 18 days, with in-transit refrigeration, duly endorsed on the Phytosanitary Certificate.
