The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on February 21, 2025, issued the Generic Quality Manual of Assaying & Hallmarking Centre.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The "Generic Quality Manual" for Assaying & Hallmarking Centres, aligned with IS 15820:2024, provides a comprehensive framework for establishing and operating such centres.
• It encompasses organizational structure, personnel qualifications, facility requirements, equipment standards, and detailed procedures for assaying and hallmarking gold and silver articles.
• The manual emphasizes impartiality, confidentiality, and a robust management system to ensure the delivery of precise and reliable test results.
• Additionally, it includes annexes detailing necessary equipment, chemical reagents, organizational structures, competency requirements, measurement uncertainty evaluation procedures, and essential records.
