The Department of Panchayati Raj, Himachal Pradesh on January 23, 2025, notified regarding the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj (General) Amendment Rules, 2024, to further amend Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj (General) Rules, 1997.
The following has been stated namely: -
• This shall come into force from January 23, 2025, but the provision of Rule 3 will come in force from such date as may be notified by the State Government.
• Rule 2, clause (bb) of sub-rule (1), shall be substituted with:- (BB) “bonafide resident shall mean a person who has been issued a bonafide Himachali certificate by a competent revenue officer”.
• In rule 9, sub-rule (1), the words “fifteen days” shall be substituted with “seven days”.
• In rule 9, sub-rule (2), the words “thirty days” shall be substituted with “three days”.
• In rule 10, after sub-rule (1), a new sub-rule shall be inserted namely:- "(1-A) The proceedings of the meeting may also be recorded online in the format and software, as may be made available by the Panchayati Raj Department”.
