The Department of Fisheries, Andaman and Nicobar on February 18, 2025, issued the notification to refrain from using harmful chemicals for fishing.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Fishers, fish farmers, and members of the general public in the South Andaman District are resorting to the use of harmful chemicals for catching fish in the nearby nallahs and ponds.
• Advisory has been issued to all fishers and fish farmers to refrain from using harmful chemicals for fishing.
• Any violators of these rules will be dealt with strictly, in accordance with the applicable regulations.
