Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe International Financial Services Centre Authority (IFSCA) on February 26, 2025, issued a Draft Consultation Paper on the Regulatory Approach towards Tokenization of Real-World Assets.

The following has been stated: -

•The Government of India set up the GIFT IFSC in Gujarat to position India as a global leader in international financial services. 

•The IFSCA was created to regulate financial products, services, and institutions in IFSCs. Tokenization, particularly in asset ownership and financial services, is a key focus area for IFSCA, aiming to leverage blockchain technology for greater efficiency, transparency, and reduced costs in global finance. 

•The IFSCA has constituted a committee to recommend measures for developing a digital asset ecosystem in GIFT IFSC and is now seeking public feedback on the regulation of tokenization of real-world assets, with responses due by March 20, 2025.
