The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoL&E) on February 27, 2025, issued a notification regarding the declaration of Public Utility Service for Alumina, Aluminium, and Bauxite Industries.
The following has been stated: -
•The Central Government has declared industries engaged in manufacturing Alumina, Aluminium, and Bauxite mining as public utility services under the Industrial Disputes Act, of 1947. This declaration, effective for six months from August 04, 2024, aims to serve the public interest.
•The declaration can be extended for six months at a time. This is done under the powers granted by the Industrial Disputes Act.
