The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on February 27, 2025, updated Master Direction - Non-Banking Financial Companies Acceptance of Public Deposits (Reserve Bank) Directions, 2016.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in the public interest and to regulate the credit system for the country's advantage, has issued new directions under its powers conferred by Sections 45J, 45JA, 45K, 45L, and 45MA of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 (Act 2 of 1934).
These Non-Banking Financial Companies Acceptance of Public Deposits (Reserve Bank) Directions, 2016, supersede the previous directions issued under Notification No. DFC.118/DG(SPT)-98 dated January 31, 1998.
The updated directions shall apply to all Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) as specified in the notification and aim to strengthen regulatory oversight, enhance financial stability, and safeguard public interest.
