The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on February 28, 2025, notified regarding the applications for approval of Rapid Analytical Food Testing (RAFT) Kit/Equipment/Method by FSSAI.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It provides that the desirous manufacturers/method developers shall apply to FSSAI in the application format through the Online Portal.
• It further provides the points to be considered while applying:
o The applicant shall be granted 2 chances to submit the required clarifications in the application.
o The validation of the rapid food testing kit/equipment/method in accordance with guidelines by a third party, such as an authorized FSSAI laboratory or AOAC, AFNOR, MICROVAL, ILVO, USFDA, NORDVAL, etc. shall be mandatory for approval.
o In case of overseas manufacturers having an Indian Subsidiary, the RAFT Application shall be accepted from Indian subsidiary only. The RAFT application received from any other dealer shall be ejected.
