The Punjab Pollution Control Board, (PPCB), on February 10, 2025, issued a notification regarding the Implementation of Notifications and SOP for Streamlining.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), through notifications G.S.R. 702(E) and G.S.R. 703(E) dated 12.11.2024, has exempted certain industrial plants from obtaining the Consent to Establish (CTE) under:
Section 25 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974
Section 21 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981
Exempted Categories
The following industrial plants are exempted from obtaining CTE:
Industrial plants with a Pollution Index score of up to 20, as listed in the notification, provided they inform the State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) or Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) in writing.
Industrial plants with prior Environmental Clearance (EC) under S.O. 1533(E), issued under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, for previously established plants.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
MoEF&CC issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to streamline implementation, which was further modified and addressed projects/activities requiring prior EC but exempted from CTE.
