The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on February 28, 2025, issued a Guidance Document for the Registration of Recyclers/co-processors at the EPR Portal for Used Oil Management.
The following has been stated: -
•The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change introduced Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for the management of Used Oil under the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Second Amendment Rules, 2023.
•Producers and importers of used oil must meet EPR obligations by purchasing certificates from registered recyclers. Recyclers must register on the CPCB EPR portal, providing details about their facilities, equipment, pollution control devices, and other relevant information.
•The SOP outlines the registration process for recyclers/co-processors and the required documentation. These rules apply to various types of used oils, including engine, hydraulic, and gear oils.
