The Labour and Skills Department, Kerala on March 05, 2025, issued the notification regarding the Draft revision of minimum rate of wages for Reed/bamboo workers and Cane Workers.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Rate of Wages for Reed/Bamboo Workers have been divided as following: -
o Piece Rate – Reed Cutting Workers, Mat weaving
o Daily Wage Rates –
a. Skilled Workers - Machine Operator, Carpenter, Painter, Polisher, Treatment Worker, Treatment Processor, Tile Worker, Curtain Maker, Weaver, Tailoring Worker, and Bamboo Ornament Worker
b. Unskilled Workers – Assistant/Helper, and General Worker
• The Rate of Wages for Cane Workers (except manufacturing of furniture) have been divided as following: -
o Skilled Workers – Frame Worker, Polisher, and Other skilled workers
o Unskilled Workers – Those who are engaged in the preparation of Cane and other preliminary works, Helper, and Cleaner
• The piece rate and daily rated workers are eligible for Dearness Allowance (Variable DA) at the rate of Two Rupee and Thirty Paise per day for the increase of every one point above the 165 points of new series of the Consumer Price Index Number 2011-12=100 published for the District Headquarters concerned by the Economics and Statistics Department of the State Government
• For the eligibility of full Dearness Allowance, the piece rated workers have to complete the prescribed workload and for the purpose, the work output computed on each week has to be reckoned and Dearness Allowance shall be paid at the rate of one Dearness Allowance for a day with a maximum of six Dearness Allowances a week.
Objections and suggestions may be sent to the Secretary to Government, Labour and Skills (E) Department, Government Secretariat, Thiruvananthapuram within 2 months.
