Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) on march 04, 2025, issued the draft Inland Vessel (Manning) (First Amendment) Rules, 2025 to further amend the Inland Vessels (Manning) Rules, 2022.

The following has been stated namely: -

• Rule 5 which states “Appointment of Examiners & Examination Centres” sub-rule (5) has been substituted namely: -

“(a) Possesses a Ministry of Transport Master (Foreign Going) or Marine Engineer Officer (MEO) Class I Certificate of Competency issued by Directorate General of Shipping with minimum 8 years’ experience as Certificated Officer on ships or State Maritime Boards or Director General of Shipping or Ports or State Inland Waterways Authority or Inland Water Transport Directorate or equivalent”

• Rule 13 which states “Minimum requirements for certification of Master Class 3/Serang of an inland vessel for New Entrants Through Cadet Training Route” sub-rule (1) has been substituted namely: -

“Minimum requirements for certification of Master Class 3 or Serang or Engine Driver Class 2 of an inland vessel for new entrants through cadet training route”

Objections or suggestions may be sent to the Deputy Secretary (IWT), Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways within 30 days.
