The Government of Karnataka on March 05, 2025, notified the Karnataka Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation and Development) (Amendment) Bill, 2025 to further amend the Karnataka Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation and Development) Act, 1966.
The following has been stated-
•After section 78A, the 78-B. Responsibility of Warehouse service provider new section shall be inserted.
•After Chapter XIII-C of the Principal Act, the CHAPTER XIII-D E-Commerce Platform shall be inserted.
•In section 6 in sub-section (2),- (i) for the third proviso, the following proviso shall be substituted, namely:- “Provided also that, the Director of Agricultural Marketing may declare a warehouse, silos, cold storage, pack houses, cleaning, grading and packaging unit as sub-market, market sub-yard or sub-market yard as the case may be in such manner as may be prescribed. (ii) after third proviso as so amended, the following shall be inserted namely:- “Provided also that, all processing units licensed by the market committee which is outside the market yards and within the market area, shall be deemed as sub-market, market sub-yard or sub-market yard as the case may be for the purpose of regulation.”
