The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MoHI) on March 10, 2025, issued a notification regarding Product Specific Guidelines for Low Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear: Control circuit devices and switching elements – Electromechanical control circuit devices conforming to IS/IEC 60947-5-1: 2016 under Electrical Equipment (Quality Control) Order and subsequent amendments made from time to time.
The following has been stated: -
•The guidelines outline the process for obtaining or modifying a license for low voltage switchgear and controlgear, specifically electromechanical control circuit devices and switching elements conforming to IS/IEC 60947-5-1: 2016.
•It specifies product grouping, type testing procedures, and sampling requirements, including testing devices with maximum configurations to cover all product variants.
•Simplified testing methods are outlined to reduce duplication, and certain tests may be exempted under specific conditions. Accessories and sub-assemblies must comply with applicable standards.
