The Government of Kerala on March 07, 2025, issued notification proposal for the revision of Minimum Wages for Photography and Videography Sector.
The revision of the minimum wage rates for employees in the Photography and Videography sector under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, superseding the previous notification from 2017. The revised wage structure categorizes employees into various groups based on their roles, with the highest monthly wage of Rs.29,130 for Managers and the lowest of ₹16,120 for Watchmen, Sweepers, and Cleaners. Additionally, employees are entitled to a Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) of ₹60 for every point increase above 165 points of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published by the Department of Economics and Statistics.
The revision applies to roles such as Photographers, Videographers, Graphic Designers, Video Editors, Studio Artists, Camera Technicians, Assistants, Marketing Executives, Customer Care Executives, Clerks, and more. It also addresses the calculation of daily wages for monthly-wage employees and ensures that those currently receiving higher wages than the prescribed rates will continue to enjoy such benefits.
Objections and suggestions concerning the proposed revision can be submitted to the Secretary to the Government, Labour and Skills (E) Department, Thiruvananthapuram, within two months from the date of publication of this notification. The government will consider all representations before finalizing the revised wage structure.
