Industry Specific ComplianceThe Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on March 11, 2025, directs States to Step Up Food Safety Checks on Dairy Analogues.

FSSAI has instructed all States and Union Territories to intensify surveillance on Dairy Analogues throughout March due to the festive season. The initiative aims to prevent food adulteration and mislabeling during a period of increased demand.

Dairy Analogues, as defined under the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011, are products where non-milk constituents replace milk components but resemble milk products in appearance, texture, and functionality. These Analogues are not considered milk or milk products.

FSSAI is focusing on ensuring these products are not falsely marketed as dairy products and is enforcing rigorous testing and label examinations to prevent consumer deception, ensuring regulatory compliance and public safety.
