The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on March 12, 2025, issued an Addendum to OC 206 Implementation of Generic Good Faith Debit Adjustments in URCS.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that the BGGD allows sponsor/acquiring banks to raise debit adjustments for IPO/Mandate block transactions within 45 days, with issuing banks having 3 days to accept/reject before auto-acceptance on the 4th day, ensuring fund settlement via URCS.
• It further provides that the URCS validates BGGD adjustments based on mandate details, prevents duplicates, enforces a 3-day response window with deemed acceptance on the 4th day, requires account details, applies no penalties, and settles amounts under ‘Net Adjusted Amount’ in NTSL.
• The functionality shall be made available to the banks with effect from March 15, 2025.
Refer Annexure -1, for rules and detailed process for handling generic good faith debit adjustments.
