The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) on March 12, 2025, notified regarding the approval of “Detailed procedure for moderating schedule up to minimum turndown level for Section 62 generators through SCED” under Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Indian Electricity Grid Code) Regulations, 2023.
The following has been stated namely: -
• This procedure shall apply to all thermal regional entity generating stations under Section 62 tariff, requiring SCED participants to engage in both SCED-Up and SCED-Down, excluding SCUC-selected stations, Two-Shift operations, and gas-based plants used for peak demand or reserves, while ensuring grid security and reliability.
• It states that the eligible Generating Stations shall coordinate with RLDCs for scheduling, review injection schedules on D-1, report MTL shortfalls to NLDC, submit standard declarations on efforts to sell power in the market by 20:00 Hrs on D-1 and 06:00 Hrs on D+1, ensuring compliance with SCED requirements.
• This shall be effective from March 24, 2025.
