The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) on March 18, 2025, notified regarding the Aadhaar Based Payment Systems under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that the Ministry of Rural Development has implemented the Aadhaar Payment Bridge System (APBS) for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) to ensure timely wage payments, making it mandatory from January 1, 2024.
• It states that currently, 99.49% of the 13.55 crore active workers have completed Aadhaar seeding. Wage rates for unskilled workers are revised annually based on the Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers (CPI-AL), with an average increase of 7% for the fiscal year 2024-25 compared to 2023-24.
• It further provides that as of March 13, 2025, the national average wage per person per day under MGNREGS is ₹252.63, with state-wise variations.
