Industry Specific ComplianceThe Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on March 18, 2025, released recommendations on the ‘Definition of International Traffic’ in response to the DoT's back-reference in respect of the TRAI's recommendations dated 10.12.2024.

The following has been stated namely: -

• It states that on March 18, 2025, TRAI issued its response to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) regarding the definition of international traffic. Initially, on December 10, 2024, TRAI provided recommendations on defining international and domestic SMS after consulting stakeholders. 

• The DoT, on February 13, 2025, accepted these recommendations in principle but sought further clarification on international SMS. 

• After examining the issue, TRAI has finalized its response to the back reference.
