Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Madhya Pradesh on March 17, 2025, issued the Madhya Pradesh Town and Village Investment (Amendment) Bill, 2025 to further amend the Madhya Pradesh Town and Village Investment Act, 1973.

The following amendments have been stated:

• The following section shall be inserted after section 66 of the Madhya Pradesh Town and Village Investment Act, 1973 namely:-

"66A. Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, the State Government may, if it considers necessary in the public interest, by notification, designate any major infrastructure development project area including its area of influence, as a special area to be developed and designate any Government agency or a Government-owned company or a local body as the Special Area Development Authority. Such project shall be developed in accordance with the procedure mentioned in section 50, and shall fulfil one of the following criteria, namely:-

(i) the project area exceeds 40 hectares; or

(ii) The project cost exceeds Rs 500 crore as per administrative approval.

The functions of such authority shall be as specified in section 68 for the purpose of development of the area so notified under sub-section (1) of section 64.".
